I just realized I really don't listen to music much anymore. Maybe a bit in the Background but not like I did when I was younger. I know the Eagles have a CD due out soon, but thats kind of Country Rock. What Good Current Bands are out there that I would like? A few Past Favorites of mine are:

Ozzy Osbourne with or without Sabbath
Sammy Hagar with or without Van Halen
Lenny Kravitz
Metallica

Mike : )

Hey doode.. i like to break in here and make a comment on that.

First of all sounds like a real die hard rocker heheh I agree all them good REAL rockers are not around anymore and all we can listen to is old classic stuff.. from them.. thats pretty much all i have and all i listen to too is old classic rock.

Vanhalen is back.. touring again.. but NOT with Sammy .. but with DLR!!.. I knwo it isnt sammy but it is kinda reminessence of the Orginal VH!!. minus The bass player.. as his SON Wolfy playing Bass now!!.. i seen commercial on the TV for the new tour!

As far as any new stuff.. i couldnt tell you what is out there that would be good for us classic doode.... UNLESS the old classic rocker musicians.. come back with new stuff. BUt then to me it wouldnt be the same. Music isnt like it used to be in EVERY ASPECT!.. music caters to the younger crowd now.. and well it is hard for us olders doodes.. to find music we like anymore.

Oh well sorry for breakin in here.. but i just wanted to give my opinion!.. I like to see the the orginal Pink FLoyd comeback WITH WATERS!!..

I like to see DEEP PURPLE come back, I like to see SABBOTH come back with OZZY!.. I like to see KISS come back with ACE and PETE (the orginal 4)..

but you know the music wouldnt be like it used to be!!!1 oh well!

I was pondering going to see Van Halen, but I decided to opt out if it. I had waited years for this to happen. And now that they are back together, they decide to do it without Michael Anthony, which in my opinion, makes it not the same. VH missed the boat years ago when they should have reunited. After seeing David Lee Roth at the House of Blues earlier this year, I realized what a lounge act he has become. I love the guy, read his book, love the music, but he has "cheesey" written all over him. He tried his best to be the Dave of old, but the kicks weren't as smooth, and the voice couldn't reach the high's like he used to. I know he is older, and considering his age, he did a fantastic job. However, his show just had "Vegas Lounge Act" written all over it. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't what we would expect from VH. Too little too late.
Today's music really isn't all that good. There are few bands that I enjoy like Interpol and The Yeah yeah Yeahs. I find myself listening to a lot of post-rock music like Mogwai and Explosions in the Sky. Other than that, I revert to my 80's stuff, which maybe wasn't that great, but it feels good.
I saw the Police a while back. I was so excited as they were one of the 5 bands that I wanted to see together again. They show was boring, and did not do anything for me. Especially for the price of the tickets. Stewart Copeland put on a fantastic show which did allow me to find entertainment in the concert. They sounded great, but it wasn't the same. Maybe it was the commercialism of it all.
By the way, the other 4 bands I wanted to see are/were:
Van Halen - Im passing on that.
Journey with Steve Perry - still waiting
Tears For Fears - saw them in 04 and it was well worth it.
Kiss - saw them on the last tour with all original members. Best entertaining concert I have ever seen.

I guess I would be excited about Guns n Roses original lineup getting back together. But that is unlikely.

Hey DD!! yeah i agree Vanhalen isnt the same with out Mike Anthony!.. He is the orginal ..he made the band too.. with his back up vocals and solid bass.. i dont think i will get into them either.. music like you say isnt the same.

Though KISS is still my favourite , I seen the orginal at a state fair long time ago.. when they were doing the ELDER ERA.. the concert was so lame... they had these HEAVY A$$ costumes on.. that were like stuff you would see out oa a cartoon.. they were bulkey and to colourfull!.. it was so lame.. there is pictures of them during that era... the music was also like disco stuff.. durirg that era!.. EWWWWWW... They DIDNT EVEN have the KISS sign in back of them thats how bad it was.. I wasnt even SURE they were the REAL KISS!! but they were!.. I was totally Dissappointed as i was a fand ever since i could rememeber. EVEN WHEN MY "SO CALLED" parents were totally against me listening to them.

I got KISSOLOGY set and thats killlller!!.. and it is funny they dont show to much videoa if ANY of that era!..

KISS meets The Phantom.. It is on DVD but not OFFICIALLY.. It is a third party home brewed one. It is all over EBAY.. at least back a couple years. I bought one thinking it was a REAL ONE.. and when i got it.. IT was SEALED.. BRAND NEW>.. i opned it up. and seen it was just a home made printed cover.. and then disk was only a DVDR with a home made printed label on it... the quality of the movie was soooooo BADDDDD.. like copied form VHS tape cause you can see tracking lines. I got a refund on it.. it was that bad.

There is like a whole bunch of different styles of the cover art for the movie sold on ebay.. Thats why i KNEW THOSE werent real.. they looked like a kid cropped a bunch of kiss photos together to make a cover and the KISS LOGO wasnt orginal... but the one i bought was just IDENTICAL to the original VHS tape of the movie.. the cover was exact.. thats why i ASSUMED it WAS REAL!

The seller told me it was NEVER OFFICALLY RELEASED on DVD! Sad thats suckeddddd!

I also dont think it will either.. neither oone of the members of the group liked that movie anyways!.. everyone of them said in an interview at one point or another they thought it was lame and the worst part of thier carreer heheh!

VGC.

I am in the same boat - I have lost the passion I once had for music and still settle on listening to the classic artists like you mentioned. I may be able to help out a bit though, since my brother is a little bit younger than I and has clued me on a few bands. I will admit that these are not necessarily new to most listeners - but i think they may be new for our generation (late 90's to early 2K's). A couple of worthwhile rock bands (IMHO):

Goo Goo Dolls
Foo Fighters
Blink 182
Lincoln Park
Fuel
Incubus
Third Eye Blind

Since the artists you listed are quite classic, I left out some other newer classics (Pearl Jam). Another group that is excellent is Tears For Fears - I highly recommend them if you haven't explored them past their initial pop releases.

Shoot me an email if you want me to set you up with a demo sampler disk of the above.

Terry

Hello MG, Yeah I've listened to all those bands they are OK. I just dont seem to get into the music like I used to. I hear it and I can take it or leave it. I'm currently playing Guitar Hero II on my XBOX 360 and only seem to replay the Classic I love. BTW I still suck at the game but it is very fun. Mike : )

Mike, Dont feel bad i am the same way. I used to like to listen to them old 80s metal bands , Ozzy, Cinderella, Europe, Whitelion, Whitesnake, the list of them groups is endless. I used to have alot of freinds back then in the 80s that would come over and bring over thier tapes of metal bands and we would just sit and have a a few beers and listen to them! Or we would jam to them too alot. (Of course, using REAL guitars and amps, not Air guitars hehe or the ones used for guitar hero hehehe.. ok ok that was a just a small burn hehe!)

But seriously like you say.. now adays.. i dont listen to the music like i used to. It is hard for me to enjoy it.. not that i DONT.. just that i dont have the interest like i used to ... VIDEO GAMES took that over and I play more games then i do music.

It is sad.. cause when I turn on my Music systemn to TRY to record some stuff for my cd project that i have been working on for like 10 PLUS years or MORE.. I lose interest fast and shut it down... and turn on the xbox. It isnt like it used to be. I used to be able to turn my music stuff on and record for hours, all my music ideas and what not. I was very creative back then. NOW it is just the opposite!.. with BOTH listening to music and Creativity of my own music. Sad

I think i know why, though, it is like that way with me.. cause back then when i lived in Malone in the 80s i had ALOT of freinds that would come over all the time, that were heavily into music and being musicians as well (my apartment was even smaller back then then what it is now too) and we would jam for hours.. Also i played in bands and played out almost every weekend. I had alot of music ambition in me back then. I would sit and write my own orginal music for hours too!.. I had tons of songs i wrote back then.

Now adays.. it is just the opposite..since i moved here in 93, where i am at now, i dont have any freinds like i used to have.. and no one comes over to hang or jam like they used to back then. Sad I dont play in bands anymore... and i dont get out to listen to them like i used to either.. so music is like I hardly turn it on to listen to when it is just ME alone here. AND also thats why i cant get the creativity like i used to either.. and thats also why i am more playing video games then music!.. Sad

Sometimes i try.. and turn on some Pink Floyd or what not but it doesnt last long. I turn it off and the games come on.

So if i was to wanna go back to a specific time in my life and relive it.. would be the 80s!.. I had alot of fun, alot of freinds, and i was alot more creative back then too! and thats one thing i will never get back.. My creativity!. Sad

Oh well just a rant i guess!
