Ok. I have to take two additional semesters of a foreign language or 2 semesters of ASL (American Sign Language). I am just trying to gauge different opinions and views from other people. Ultimately, the decision comes down to me, but it does not hurt getting additional points of views.

French 3/4
Pro: The challenge of it. On of the ways a healthy person can grow is to seek out tension. It is too much of a cope out to do something that we know will will be successful at, instead of seeking out challenges where success is not a given.
Pro: It would strength my ability to utilize the language
Pro: Would expose me to different cultures and everything there in.
Pro: Both of these classes would go towards meeting the requirement for my associates of applied arts degree.
Con: There will be a 3 month layoff between this semester ending, and when I will be taking French 3.
Con: The difficuly. Again, this is not inherently bad. Though with the 3 month layoff it may be even more difficult.
Con: I do have some difficutly in listening comphrension now. I can understand basic stuff if it is spoken slowly, but if it is spoken fast it is tough.
Con: There is no gurantee of a French tutor in the fall.

American Sign Language
Pro: More people that I socalize with on the campus know ASL, so I have more options to practice with different people
Pro: My ex-gf has two deaf siblings and she would be more than willing to help if need be.
Pro: I would find it very interesting. Like I was a part of some secret club.
Pro: There is always a French tutor available
Con: They would not go towards my associates degree since they would not be college level courses. I would then have two take 2 additional college level courses. So French wipes out two requirements.
Con: Potentially lower degree of difficulty. I know some people may see this as a pro, but if I am to ever know what I am truely capable of I must challenge myself.

That is it. Any thoughts or opinions will be grealy appreciated.

Cant the ASL be used as a elective towards your Associate degree? Can you take easier Spanish Classes instead of Harder French Classes? or have you already done 1 2. Otherwise take whatever would be more useful for your daily life. Mike : )
